We wish to raise enough money to help prevent or cure Pulmonary Disease. After our first 5K run in 2012, we had donated the proceeds to the COPD Foundation and to "MJ's Pulmonary Fund", which assists Pulmonary Disease Research and Patient Rehabilitation.
This year we are proud to announce that our community outreach is now supporting 3 local hospitals. Olathe Medical Center, Shawnee Mission Medical Center and St. Joseph Medical Center.
COPD Foundation (COPDF) was established in June 2004 to speed innovations to make treatments more effective and affordable, to undertake initiatives that result in expanded services for individuals with COPD and to improve the lives of individuals affected by COPD and related lung diseases. The COPDF’s activities focus on achieving these results through research, education and advocacy programs that will lead to prevention, and someday, a cure for this disease.
MJ's Pulmonary Fund
MJ's Pulmonary Fund was established in 2012. 5K4MJ partners with local Pulmonary Rehabilitation centers to assist in extending Patient rehabilitation services. Pulmonary Rehabilitation centers extend services to Pulmonary Disease patients which qualify and may not be able to afford rehabilitation services and/or transportation to the rehabilitation centers.
